"stimming studies" is the demonstration of different string painting techniques I developed and explores the intersection of art, science, and neurodiversity.
Inspired by the rhythmic and repetitive movements of stimming, a self-regulating behavior common in individuals with autism, the series utilizes black and white to create intricate patterns that capture variations in movement, speaking to the complexity of life itself when motion is visualized.
I call these techniques artistic stimming via string theory aka "string theory" as a homage to the physics theory that all matter and energy can be defined as 1D objects called string and are defined by their vibrations.
These monochromatic compositions invite viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of all things, challenging perceptions of symmetry, order, and chaos.
